What is a White Lady?

The White Lady (sometimes called a Delilah or Chelsea Sidecar) is a classic cocktail made with gin, Triple Sec, or Cointreau,  fresh lemon juice, and egg white. It’s like a sidecar, but instead of brandy, it’s made with gin. The drink may also contain other ingredients such as egg white, sugar, cream, or creme de menthe.

History of the White Lady Cocktail

Harry Craddock, deserves a lot of credit as well. He published the recipe in his cocktail Book in 1930, doubling the amount of gin and so making the drink drier. The famed former manager of The American Bar, Peter Dorelli, suggested adding a dash of egg white to bind the drink together and give it a smooth and silky finish.
