Bee’s Knees Cocktail Recipe (Will Give You a Buzz)

I'm sure even your grandpa wouldn't be able to tell you what the knee of a bee has to do with this cocktail. Still, here's our Bee's Knees Cocktail Recipe.

It’s “awesome,” it’s “lit,” it’s “the Bee’s Knees”! I’m sure even your grandpa wouldn’t be able to tell you what the knee of a bee has to do with something being great. Do bees even have knees? Anyway, I still find myself using the expression every now and then, albeit satirically but still.

The Bee’s Knees is a prohibition-era cocktail that smells lovely and tastes sweet. You’ll need your shaker, a jigger, a Hawthorne strainer, and a fine mesh strainer for this one so bust out the ole’ cocktail kit. So let’s get right into this Bee’s Knees Cocktail Recipe.

Some Things To Note

Honey is wonderful in drinks, but at full strength, it is difficult to use. A practical way of preparing honey for use in drinks is to turn it into a thinner syrup, similar to simple syrup. To do so, combine 1 part honey with 1 part warm water and stir until all the honey is dissolved. Store in the fridge for 2 weeks. We recommend this method when making this Bee’s Knees Cocktail Recipe.

Notes

  • Honey has a strong presence in drinks when used as a sweetener, so it’s a good idea to choose mild honey, like clover blossom, over a strong flavor like buckwheat. I always look for a local producer; it helps with my wife’s allergies.” -Dale Degroff.
